SB311

Women's Prisons

WIIW Sponsors SB311

Woman II Woman is excited to share that we are sponsoring SB311, a legislative initiative focused on enhancing health and safety in California's women's prisons. This bill, authored by Senator Shannon Grove, tackles the increasing concerns surrounding the current housing policies in these facilities.

What does SB311 do?

SB311 gives CDCR the authority to establish secure facilities at CCWF & CIW to house transgender women. This will ensure their individual needs are met while protecting the privacy & safety of biological women. This bill also prohibits transgender inmates who are convicted of certain sexual offenses under the Sex Offender Registration Act from being housed in women’s prisons.
